Pads for Girls Program
Global Village Connect partners with Days For Girls to provide menstrual kits and a 2 day educational workshop for girls on reproductive health. The pads last for 1-2 years. $25 pays for 1 girl's educational workshop and a menstrual kit that lasts 1-2 years. (Each kit alone costs $18.) Boys are invited for part of the workshop to discuss sex education and issues of consent.

Why is this Important?
Young women often drop out of school when they start menstruating because they do not have the necessary hygiene products. They start missing class and homework assignments and start to fall behind, which compounds each month. Days for Girls is changing the status quo, through quality menstrual care solutions, health education, and income-generation opportunities. What's in a Menstrual Kit? A kit contains 2 colorful pads, 2 pair of underwear, soap and a string bag. Why are the pads colorful? When you hang them to dry, no one knows what it is and it bends in with the colorful clothing hanging to dry on the line or the bushes. Funds will be collected and given directly to the local Ugandan Namatumba Days For Girls. Not only are you donating to a woman's education, you are also helping woman earn an income. |
