My name is Jayna and I am in 6th grade. In honor of becoming bat mitzvah I chose a “mitzvah” project that I thought would do good for people in need. When I came across the Give-A-Goat program, I knew it was the perfect fit, and here’s why: |
- When you give a goat, you seed a business that will help struggling families survive and thrive.
- A dairy goat can be milked twice per day for up to 8 cups of milk per day.
- Goat milk can be sold for $3.25 per day for families that typically live on less than $1.50 per day.
- Milk can be mixed with porridge to increase its nutritional value to help kids concentrate better while in school.
- The program teaches kids how to take responsibility.
- The money earned can be used for whatever the goat recipient needs. An adult goat can be sold for more than 2-1/2 times the cost of a baby goat, yielding a significant profit!
The Project:
In order to raise funds to purchase goats, I am doing a 21-Day Virtual Walk/Run/Ride-a-thon To Uganda. Our goal is to cover a total of 7,000 miles: roughly the distance between where I live in New York City to Uganda. And I ask you to join me in this fun and meaningful project.
The event will begin on Tuesday, May 11 and will conclude on Monday, May 31 with a virtual gathering for all participants to celebrate our accomplishments with some special guests.

There are lots of ways to get involved. You can walk . You can ride. You can run. You can do yoga! If you can track it on your phone, fitness device or with pen and paper, you can do it! You can donate, walk and donate, walk and get people to sponsor you, or start a team. Whatever you do, we hope you will help us spread the word among your friends and social networks.

At Global Village Connect, our mission is to help provide every child the opportunity for an education and nutrition through our school farms, scholarships, micro-businesses such as Give a Goat and clean water projects. However, our partner schools are in crisis mode due to the global pandemic and we are reacting to the emergency on the ground. People are in desperate need of food. Most parents and caregivers must work daily to earn an income but with country-wide lockdown orders in effect, most families do not have the means to put food on the table. We have fed more than 4,000 people in the last three months, but our work is not over. Take a step, or rather many steps, towards helping us help our friends who need.
