Fundraising Ideas

Global Village Connect helps you create fundraisers, outlined in each lesson plan, that are appropriate for you and your project. Here are some examples, many of which promote awareness of the issue.

• Hold a competition between homerooms to see who can sell the most goats. The winner gets naming rights for the goats.
• Hold a fundraiser at a “farm-to-table” restaurant and arrange with the owner to take a percentage of the sales
• Sell jewelry hand-crafted by members of your partner community
• Cook a community meal based on a diet similar to your partner school and charge people to attend
• Sell herbs and vegetable plants for a fundraiser and to raise awareness of the importance of healthy food
• Hold a Move-a-thon – solicit sponsors to fund a two-hour play session after school
• Create art. Sell the supplies, then design original art — like peace flags or ceramic tiles— for your partner community.
• Ask teachers to volunteer for a pie-in-the-face event
• Ask local businesses for donations
• Conduct a raffle or silent auction
• Table outside of businesses
• Sell ads in the school newsletter
• Organize an awareness/fundraising walk or run
• Start a Go Fund Me or Kickstarter Campaign

Getting started

Most of our educational projects start with a pen pal program. Global Village Connect can connect you with a teacher or school director in a developing country and help get the ball rolling. As communication begins flow, you will see a new generation of global citizens emerge, filled with new project ideas or you may choose to extend one of the projects already underway.
